Project Management Day of Service: We are Making Project Management the Intentional Profession!

Chapter Best Practices Sessions
Laura Barnard & Kendall Lott, PMIWDC

Are you looking for ways to engage your volunteers in a meaningful way? Grow your member-ship? Provide professional development opportunities? Grow interest in the Project Management profession? Give back to your local community? The Project Management Day of Service gives you all of this with one event! The Project Management Day of Service was the first of its kind to bring together 400 project managers with 100 nonprofits in the region to do an all-day Scope-A-Thon.

In this session, you will hear about a record-setting event that has gotten the attention of PMI Global and many other PMI chapters across the world. Come learn how your chapter can join the many chapters that are saying, “Accidental Profession no longer!” while addressing many strategic objectives for growth of their chapters and providing value to their membership.

Learn what it takes to pull off a record setting event with no budget, no resources, and not much more than a vision to change the landscape of the Project Management profession. Co-Founders of the Project Management Day of Service, Kendall Lott and Laura Barnard, will walk you through the 8 month journey of taking an inspiring vision and turning it into a real dream come true that set a world record, received White House attention, and drew the US Secretary of Commerce as a speaker to kick off the day…all while leveraging the PMI best practices for running a PMO and a large strategic project.
