Volunteer Recruitment/Recognition/Retention

Chapter Best Practices Sessions
Loretta Letke, PMI Baltimore

PMI Baltimore uses a distributed model for member meetings that include lunch and dinner meetings. In addition to the Chapter meetings, PMI Baltimore held various Special Events in 2014 including a Professional Development Event that drew close to 200 attendees, a Golf Outing, and a Bull Roast. In total, PMI Baltimore has 100+ volunteers who support the Chapter goals and offerings on a consistent basis. We credit the success of retaining these volunteers to the Chapter’s ability to support the volunteers while at the same time allowing them to run the meetings themselves as well as providing electronic systemic support. The Chapter provides laptops/tablets to volunteers who support the Chapter meetings, educational offerings, and special events. Each year, PMI Baltimore holds a Volunteer Recognition Event to honor our volunteers. This event is free to the volunteers and their guests and each volunteer is given a certificate of appreciation from the entire PMI Baltimore Board of Directors. Also, PMI Baltimore has a dedicated Volunteer Director who has established a best practices process for matching volunteers to specific openings. PMI Baltimore has flourished due to our dedicated volunteers. We have over 100+ dedicated volunteers that are committed to the success of the Chapter.
